My must haves for flying with a toddler

This will be his fifth flight and he has always done amazing traveling. I did a blog post last November when he was 5 months old on what helped that you can read HERE. Whatever you do, don’t forget the carseat backpack. It is a must. Especially since I currently travel solo with little man.

So when it comes to actually traveling. There a couple things I always suggest having “in case” they get bored of sleeping or staring at the person behind you ūüėČ

Now that little man is just over a year old I changed up what I typically have in my carry on bag because he will most likely be awake for a large duration of the flight. (*Update: He ended up just taking a 30 minute nap and was up for 3 hours. Everything listed provided MORE than enough entertainment.)

I always suggest dressing your little one in fleece, or two layers and make sure its comfy clothing. Planes are typically chilly so I usually put him in a fleece romper. This trip he will be rocking a one piece cat + Jack romper I got him and high tops.

For activities I scored these six books for $1 at a recent consignment sale. (New books + toys are always a great way to keep them enthralled). Also bringing one of his favorite books Babys first 100 words.

I bought a set of gel window clings from Targets dollar spot for him to put on the windows, or seats or whatever else his heart desires. (Some moms suggest stickers. Ummm, no thanks. I’d prefer not to spend half the flight peeling stickers off the seats ūüėČ *Update*¬†He LOVED these! I did have to remind him two or three times they were not for consumption but he caught on pretty quick when he saw how they stuck to almost anything.¬†

I splurged and bought him some magic markers + paper. This will actually be his first time trying markers. So I am hoping the appeal of something new will keep him entertained.

For teething I brought his favorite honeycomb goods teething bracelets and teethers. Along with his paci + “teddy” lovey.

Snacks. Lord knows he loves to eat so I am bringing a couple things. Cereal bars, puffs (aka baby crack), and a pouch. I will purchase a water bottle when we get through security for us to drink as well.

To keep germs at bay I have my thieves spray. Yes, I will be that mom that sprays the tray and seat with it. Cause lets be honest people with colds travel.

The only natural deodorant I use

When I decided to switch over my deodorant to a natural one I will admit I was nervous. When my mom was diagnosed with cancer (and eventually passed away) one of the first things I learned about was our bodies need to rid itself of toxins and how most deodorants prevented us from sweating.

Traditional antiperspirants contain aluminum which blocks pores, thereby preventing toxins from leaving the body. Some scientists have suggested that this may be a risk factor in the development of breast cancer. Random fact tidbit. Most people put 168 chemicals in their body every day. EVERYDAY! Yikes.

However being a woman I really didn’t wanna be known as that hippie with pit stains and smelly armpits. I may be from the PNW but it wasn’t a stigma I wanted my name associated with. I knew there had to be something out there that didn’t burn your pits like a lot the the natural ones do. Sidetone, its because of the baking soda in it. So steer clear of baking soda deodorants if you don’t want that. There are ways around it but lets be honest I don’t have time for an extra step. I wanna put on my deodorant and go.

Enter Kaia Natural Charcoal deodorant. If you go on their website this is one of the first things they talk about “Creating natural and minimalist products that benefit busy people is second nature to kaia naturals.” They are my kinda people.

The first thing I loved was of course the packaging. Made my neutral heart happy. Second was the smell. Can I be honest? I don’t think I have ever found a deodorant I have loved the smell of. They are all so artificial and either to girly, or just not my jam. The takesumi detox¬†Kaia deodorant that I use is Lime + Mint. Perfectly refreshing and super light.

I took their 30 day challenge and I kid you not, this is my favorite deodorant to use. I will not go back to the other brands. I don’t have any odor, and I can trust what I am putting on my body is safe. So back to the 30 day detox challenge. Here is what you can expect.

I honestly was super nervous I would STANK. Either my friends were lying to me or my body did a great job of not embarrassing me. haha. I only had one day where I noticed a not friendly odor but I just reapplied deodorant and seemed to lessen.

You’ll notice the deodorant is gray. Honestly I was a little worried. I was definitely that person that emailed customer service and asked if it was going to stain my clothes or get on my clothes. They assured me it wasn’t a silly question and that it wouldn’t. Guess what? It doesn’t. It goes on almost clear like and I haven’t had any issues with staining.

So how does it work? Well the activated charcoal helps fight the odor causing bacteria meaning I stay smelling good AND the charcoal acts like a magnet to draw out the bacteria and toxins.

Since partnering with Kaia Naturals they are offering all my readers a 15% off discount. So get on it! Just type in “kymberlyjanelle” at checkout to get your discount.

Discount available until October 31st!

This is a sponsored post. All opinions are my own.

Bringing back the art of Thank you Cards with Basic Invite

Growing up writing thank you cards was a must. The day after a birthday or holiday we were sat down and given thank you cards to write in.

As I have grown up Ill be the first to admit I am not as good at it as I wish I was but I know the delight in receiving snail mail so I was determined to send out thank you cards. Its just harder now being a mom, but I know how much I appreciate a little thank you note when we attend parties. I of course used basic invite to create little mans first birthday invites for his WILD ONE birthday party.

So when creating his thank you cards I knew I wanted something more than just a plain white thank you card. Because as sweet as they are they usually get thrown in the trash a couple days later no? So I decided to use images from his Wild One Cake Smash that I photographed last month. This way they get a sweet little picture of him and a thank you card! Can you say genius?

Basic Invite is a little different than most printing companies. Not only do they allow customers to print a sample so you can see what it looks like they have almost unlimited colors! 180 colors to be exact. I didn’t even know there were 180 colors! With forty envelope colors your invites or thank you cards are going to be an exact match every time.

And one of my favorite features they collect addresses for you so you have them all in one place. This is something I love because other wise I have all my addresses in different spreadsheets and post it notes scattered around the house.

What about you? Did you grow up required to write thank you cards?

Three ways to wear a tank for summer

If you’re like me I am OBSESSED with tank tops. I wear tank tops almost everyday in the summer. They’re easy, lightweight and if the baby is grabbing at me there is no chance of indecent exposure. haha. You mamas reading know what Im talking about ūüėČ

Pink Blush has some of my favorite tanks right now! This one is my current favorite. Because its loose and long there are so many ways to wear it. Here are just three of my favorite ways to wear a tank.

First way to wear tank top: Knot in the front

This is my current favorite way to wear shirts. Its super flattering and helps with those larger and/or longer tanks.

Second way to wear tank: As is

Embrace the length.

Third way to wear tank top: Tucked in

Can we just talk about this way real quick. I remember back in school if anyone wore their shirt tucked in it was a major no-no. Now? It’s cool. So funny

What about you? Which way is your favorite?

First Birthday Party

Somehow the day has come, and now gone. His first birthday. I put so much thought into what I wanted to do. Wild has been a theme since having little man so I knew¬†right off the bat that I wanted to do a “Wild One” party. However in the beginning I wasn’t going to do it based off of Where the wild things are. I was going to do a lumberjack outdoorsy themed but since his birthday is in June I realized thats kinda out of season and decided to go with the classic Where the Wild Things are.¬†

This birthday was a labor of love and such a fun collaboration with soooooo many incredible companies. Cannot wait to share all the pictures with you guys. So lets get started.

His invites were designed by¬†Kelly Jo Studio¬†on etsy and printed by Basic Invite. I’ve used several different printers over the years being a photographer and these honestly were the best quality. These are velvet ‚̧ Ummmmm, I didn’t even know that was an option till I found basic invite. So obviously I had to choose those.

Cannot wait to print our thank you cards through Basic Invite for all those who attended his birthday party. Ill be using one of the images from his first birthday cake smash.

Basic Invite is one of the few websites that allows customers almost unlimited color options with instant previews online. Once you select a design you can change the color of each element on the card to over 180 different color options so you can make sure the card is exactly how you want it down to the littlest detail. This is what we feel sets us apart from almost any other online stationery company and is what we feel is our biggest draw. Oh, and they have free address collection service. Talk about a one stop shop. Basic Invite is my new go-to!

Sidenote. Is RSVP’ing a thing of the past? Not one person RSVP’d. haha. I had to create a Facebook group where people actually rsvp’d. haha. Maybe they just all assumed I knew they were coming. haha.

Anyways, I digress. I knew I wanted to try and stick pretty close to the theme of the book with just some minor tweaks here are there.

His outfit, well it just slays me. His crown was handmade by Jessica at¬†NuggetteCouture¬†on Etsy. We just sent her his dimensions and she custom made it for him. You guys Jessica is AMAZING!!!! Please, go send her some love and go follow her on instagram HERE.¬†¬†The quality is way better than anything you’re going to find at the store. We are keeping the crown and tail for his ‘dress up box’ later down the road and because hello that crown is so stinking cute. Instant heart melt.

His cupcake toppers are all from Glitter Designs Co . You guys Etsy is where you wanna look for everything party related! I am telling you there is so much talent there!! If you remember in his first birthday cake smash I had a cake topper. This was also made by Glitter Designs Co.

His tree cake platters are from Targets Christmas Clearance when it went to 90%. I got them for $0.50 each!!

We had so much fun. I’ve discovered one of my favorite things is having a house full of laughter and noise. It was the best feeling ever having our friends and family come celebrate our little man.

Thanks to everyone who made his birthday such an amazing success ‚̧

My favorite young living oils | May Favorites

I thought I would start a little series on my blog each month where I will feature my favorite oils for that month.

Oils can be intimidating I know. Where do you start? What oils do you need first? Should you purchase a starter kit first? So many questions and I want to take time each month to address all of these questions for you. Yes, getting the starter kit is absolutely the smartest way to go for what you get in it (we will talk more about that next month:). Today I wanna chat about 4 oils that are not in the starter kit that we are using EVERY DAY.

This months favorite oils are: Peace + Calming, Orange, Valor, and Grounding.

First up is GROUNDING oil. Grounding oil is the oil I have talked about the most this month if you follow me on instagram. We have been dealing with ALOT of overwhelming anxious feelings and grounding is helping stop those emotions in their tracks. I personally just take a whiff and find myself becoming a little more centered.

I have so many friends with children on the autism spectrum that have story after story about how this oil has helped stop their tantrums and fits with just smelling it. You can apply this oil topically or just smell it.

Toddlers + tantrums are another reason you will want this oil.

Grounding oil has : Abies concolor† (White fir) branch/leaf/wood oil, Picea mariana† (Black spruce) leaf oil, Cananga odorata† (Ylang ylang) flower oil, Pinus sylvestris† (Pine) leaf oil, Cedrus atlantica† (Cedarwood) bark oil, Angelica archangelica† (Angelica) root oil, Juniperus osteosperma† (Juniper) oil

For under $20 this oil is a must have for any mama

Next up is VALOR. My husband has used this daily for the past couple years. We nicknamed it “courage in a bottle”. It is that extra confidence boost that you need going into work,¬†or an interview. Its just the perfect way to get yourself in a positive mindset as you start the day. Its a very uplifting smell.¬†My husband¬†typically goes through a bottle a year.

Valor has: Caprylic/capric triglyceride, Picea mariana † (Black spruce) leaf oil, Cinnamomum camphora † (Camphor) wood oil, Tanacetum annuum † (Blue tansy) flower oil, Boswellia carterii † (Frankincense) oil, Pelargonium graveolens † (Geranium) flower oil

Valor is $39.75 wholesale

Orange oil is so stinking affordable at $10.75 and its the only thing that works as a teeth¬†whitener on my teeth and¬†doesn’t hurt them. I have pretty sensitive teeth and I cannot use any kind of teeth whitener strips. So orange oil is what I have been using daily. I use it once in afternoon and once at night.

Peace & Calming was the oil that got us hooked on young living oils 3 years ago. The first time I used it I slept better than I had slept in over 10+ years. I actually freaked me out I slept so soundly. We now use it every night. We just apply drop to our feet and rub our feet together. I am not a bad sleeper, I just have a hard time turning off my brain at night. I typically scroll through my phone and wait till I get sleepy. So instead of doing that I put on peace & calming as I am starting bedtime routine. Put my phone on my nightstand and am off to sleep.

Peace & Calming blend has: Citrus reticulata† (Tangerine) peel oil, Citrus aurantium dulcis† (Orange) peel oil, Cananga odorata† (Ylang ylang) flower oil, Pogostemon cablin† (Patchouli) oil, Tanacetum annuum† (Blue tansy) oil

Peace & Calming is $34.75 wholesale

This oil is EXTREMELY popular and is limited to ONE bottle per month per customer.

If you’ve been following my blog you will have noticed I just started selling Young Living¬†oils. I have been using them for 3+ years though. Now that we are selling them I am able to get hundreds of dollars of free oils each month and get a paycheck. WOHOO. Honestly, knowing I am able to help keep our household a little less toxic free feels amazing. We are currently in process of switching out all our cleaners, laundry detergents and soaps to young living products.

If you’re interested in getting your oils for free each month as well send me at email at: kymberlyjanelle@gmail.com and lets chat.¬†

If you’re interested in purchasing a starter kit you can do so HERE. Just make sure you select member so you can get wholesale pricing. Please do not hesitate to email me with any questions you have. This month (May) when you purchase your starter kit you get a FREE tangerine oil AND I’ll pay for your shipping.¬†
