“…Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil..” <Psalms 23>
One of my favorite parts of this verse is that it is the ‘shadow of death’. It is a shadow, it is not death itself. That shadow tries to creep into so many lives trying to get us to fear things. Whether it be death to the body, or death to the heart. The enemy desires to get our focus off of God the eternal hope and onto the temporal. The enemy/the devil came to steal, kill, and destroy. His plan is to strike fear into the hearts of man attempting to steal the joy and peace that comes from abiding in Christs love. His desire is to kill the dreams in our heart so that we would never live to our full potential. His desire is destroy that which God has given us – whether that be family, friends, relationships, possessions. The enemies desire is that we would shift our focus from eternal to temporal and make that our God. Because the moment we forget what we were created for we lose ourselves and can begin giving ourselves over to things that are not of God.
